Applications and system studies

Seven system studies of links where today's radios run out of power, spectrum or speed, and the MTF configuration that changes the outcome. All figures are simulated, from MTFComm system studies, September–October 2026.

Other potential applications (not yet studied in detail)

  • Wi-Fi (Spectra, Velocity): access points and clients: more throughput per channel in crowded bands, multi-gigabit in the room.
  • Cellular, 5G and 6G (Spectra): more capacity from licensed spectrum, amplifier efficiency at both ends.
  • Fixed wireless access (Spectra): broadband where fibre or cable is too expensive.
  • IoT and sensor networks (Reach): range and years of battery life.
  • Satellite ground segment (Reach, Spectra): gateways and terminals short of power or spectrum.
  • Private industrial networks (Reach, Velocity): factories, mines, ports and campuses.
  • Public safety radio (Reach): links at the edge of coverage.
  • Maritime and remote sites (Reach): ships, platforms and camps far from towers.
  • Short-range devices (Reach): Bluetooth-class personal and wearable links.
