About Dr. Fattouche
Dr. Fattouche, a distinguished scholar and innovator in wireless communications, holds both M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Toronto, earned in 1982 and 1986, respectively. He is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His pioneering research has resulted in 26 issued patents and 17 pending patents.
Dr. Fattouche co-founded Wi-LAN, Inc. in 1993, leveraging his groundbreaking work in wideband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (W-OFDM). This technology became integral to the IEEE's “WirelessMAN” Standard 802.16a. In 1995, he also co- founded Cell-Loc, Inc., a leader in network-based wireless location technology, with deployments across Canada and Brazil.
To date, over 200 companies worldwide have licensed Dr. Fattouche's innovations. His contributions to technology and entrepreneurship have earned him significant recognition, including the title of “Prairies Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2000 from Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year Program.
