Licence-free multi-gigabit point-to-point backhaul

Velocity delivers multi-gigabit point-to-point links in the 5.46–7.25 GHz gap between the FCC's protected bands. At 5.8 GHz, heavy rain costs about 0.1 dB per km. No product fills that gap today.

Key results

  • 6–8 Gbps to 5 km, against 2.5 Gbps for licensed microwave at best
  • 3.7 Gbps at 20 km; ~1.8 Gbps to the 45 km horizon
  • 2.4 Gbps over 90 km through two relays that listen and transmit at once on one channel
  • 1 channel shared by several links: a receiver removes a known signal

6 ft dishes, 20 dB safety margin. E-band carries more but rain cuts it to a few km, and lasers stop in fog. Simulated.
